Feeling Better

This week Olivia went to school and dance and loved them both like usual. Ava and I got to spend some quality time together on Monday and Wednesday since Livy slept until 10 AM each morning. Ava and I snuggled in bed telling stories. We watched HLN for some worldly news. And on Monday we made pancakes together, until finally sleeping beauty woke up to join the fun.

A few hours later a friend came over to visit us so the girls painted at the table while we hung out and talked. Nap time came and went for Liv who played quietly in her room and Ava slept peacefully in her room for a few hours. It was a nice break in the day to have a normal conversation with someone older than 4.

Wednesday we had planned to go to story time at B&N but sleeping beauty slept in so Ava and I read our magazines in bed and then cut out the pictures and did the projects while we waited. Once Liv was up and had eaten breakfast we walked to the store since it was such a nice sunny day and picked out Ava's birthday cake mix. This has been a great week so far.

Today Dave stayed home from work and took Livy to school, and Ava on errands so that I could go to the doctor. I had been having some strange girly issues but everything is OK and I am feeling a lot better. It always makes me worry when I go to the doctor that I'll go in just fine and come out with bad news. But not today so Dave's off to work and we are playing until nap time.

This weekend we are invited to one more birthday party on Saturday and then Sunday we are off to go sledding, snow tubing, and cruising on the zip lines. OK so I am just a little bit scared. But I will suck it up and be brave for my kids who have no problem flying down the hills on inner tubes. They get that from Dave. Why couldn't just one of these girls be a chicken like me?

Taking The Next Step...

For a few weeks we have been charting the girls' wet/dry pull-ups when they wake from naps and in the morning. Both of them typically wake up dry at naps but Ava wakes up every other morning wet. Olivia has been waking up most mornings dry, not each and every day, but most. We've been talking a lot about Liv wearing her panties to bed now that she's a 'big girl' or better yet a 'schoolgirl'. She has said she wants to too so yesterday at nap and at night we gave it a try and both times she woke up dry.

So today I went and bought a few cheapo sheet sets and an extra quilt so if Liv has an accident in the middle of night we can strip the bed and remake it without actually having to go downstairs and begin the laundry. I'm hoping for the best and prepared for the worst. Liv is totally excited and growing up way too fast. I can't believe my little Livynut is a schoolgirl. I never realized how short of a time period you actually get as a parent to be home with your kids before they have to enter the world by themselves. Now I'm going to have to suck in as much as possible of Ava's essence before her year is up and she leaves for school too.

Man, time is ticking. Where did it all go? I'm thankful to be a stay at home mom and enjoy these few short years. I know it will be over before I know it so I will make the most of it and take the girls to all the museums, movie theaters, water parks, zoos, distant relatives houses, and exploring places as possible. It's been great that Dave gets to take days off here and there and go too. I like that he is hands on and sees for himself what the girls are up to and interested in. Lately they are into jogging so we have been going every night. It's too hot for me but they love it.

Well it is time to wake up Olivia. She has been napping since 1Pm and it is almost 4:30PM. I'm hoping she's dry and feeling better. She's got the ickies.

Second night... not so good

Well I'd like to write that last night was fabulous and that Ava laid right down on her bed and went to sleep but then I'd be lying. It was a little more like living in a hell house. She took her afternoon nap just fine, maybe a little bit too fine. I think she may have slept for at least 3 hours which in Avaland is a bit too much and made going to bed at her regular time a nightmare.

Ok so you live and learn right? God I hope so or Dave and I will be living on very little sleep for awhile and our sex life will be dwindled down to nooners. Not that I'm complaining about a nooner or anything but he's only home 2 afternoons a week if you catch my drift.

We will try again tonight with Ava and hopefully we will have better results. We know this is a new and challenging time for her and want things to go as smoothly as possible. At times it's hard for us to not get so frustrated and throw in the towel and get the crib back out but patience will eventually help us overcome our issues and help her build her own self-confidence.
