Thirteen Things I am Thankful For Today:

1. That I can still post about Thursday in the late afternoon and still get to be accepted on the site.
2. The girls' had a blast at Pump It Up today.
3. When I filled my huge truck with gas today the price was under two dollars.
4. The girls ate lunch at their little picnic table today in the kitchen and Olivia said she loved it.

6. I repeat, they both napped.
7. I also had time to balance my checkbook and do a load of laundry.
8. The weather is cold and different than usual. It's nice to not be HOT every day.
9. We are all finally over our colds.
10. After balancing the checkbook I discovered we still have money...imagine that..ok so did I neglect to mention it wasn't very much?
11. Tomorrow Dave comes home early. I look forward to this every Thursday.
12. All the good TV shows are on tonight.
13. We have ice cream in the freezer...that almost never happens!

2. We ate bananas for breakfast while watching our favorite cartoons.

3. We read a few books.

4. We played with blocks and Lego's and built sand castles (Liv's favorite).

5. We sang songs and danced around the family room.

6. We picked out activities i.e. museums, art studios, and the zoo for next week when Grammie's here.

7. We planned Olivia's birthday cake for her party.

8. We went over some alphabet/color flash cards and played the matching game.

9. We put together a puzzle or two.

10. When Ava was napping, Livy and I played with Prodough as she calls it.

11. We took turns sitting at the desk, riding the bike and scooter, and playing with the cool ball Daddy found behind the couch.

12. We chatted with Daddy on the phone, a neighbor outside, and chased the cat.

13. We hung out, just us girls, we were silly, funny, and messy. It was fun!

Thursday Thirteen #15

So it’s been over two weeks now that I haven’t worked out and I’m feeling it all over. I’ve been eating like a crazed person and watching some pretty great TV. Sounds great except I have gained 5-6 pounds that won’t be fun to work off later. Every day I hear the little nagging voice in my head telling me it’s time to get back to it and stop lounging around. So far I have quieted that sound by eating more to the point that I am so full I can’t work out. All I can do is sit and watch TV.

A few minutes ago I had a huge debate with myself about exercising and getting it over with or doing my Thursday 13 since it is in fact Thursday and half the day has all ready passed. Of course 13 seemed like a better option so I plopped myself down and got all ready and what do you know- Blogger sends back an offline error message.

Yes- a smart person would probably see this as an act of God telling me to get off my butt and workout, there are no other options. I’ve cleaned, paid my bills, the kids are sleeping…perfect opportunity- to watch last night’s recorded TV! Hooray for me!!!

I am not a smart person. I know this to be true. Don’t follow in my footsteps or I will probably lead you down the wrong path to glutoney and when you turn around you’ll find dog poop on your shoes. Yes, it has been that kind of day.

For my 13 I give you this list:

1. Don’t take the advice of strangers…they are in fact strangers!
2. Don’t listen to me either. I don’t know what I’m doing.
3. Count your kids shoes before leaving the grocery store. They have a clever way of kicking them off right before you pay and leave.
4. Chips when eaten by the bag full are so yummy and so crunchy.
5. Only bake the amount of frozen cookie dough you plan on eating at one sitting.
6. Listen to the voice in your head or you’ll pay for it later.
7. TT is good for rambling.
8. Just work out so you don’t have to write your own ridiculous post like this one.
9. Air freshener does not remove the stinky smell of a diaper gone wrong in your child’s bedroom, it just adds to the unpleasantry.
10. If you want to suffer from a hot flash, take your toddlers to Target and have them try on jeans. After the third pair you’ll break out into a sweat and wish you had just stayed home.
11. Plan ahead
12. Make a back-up plan for that plan
13. Watch TV. It feels right.

Thursday Thirteen #14

13 Things I do in the morning before I can get to a cup of coffee- not in any particular order...

1. feed the turtles and fish

2. get dressed...shower if lucky

3. put Ava on the potty

4. feed the kids

5. kiss my husband goodbye and throw some snacks in his lunchbox

6. let the dog and cat outside who stand impatiently waiting at the door and crying until they are free.

7. unload the dishwasher

8. grind coffee, fill pot, and turn it on in the hopes that I will get to it while it's still hot and still morning.

9. stop the arguing, crying, or food throwing at the table

10. I remind myself that having kids is a blessing and they are only small once while wiping off the walls of splattered food particles.

11. I remove the kids from the table, put Ava back on the potty again, start the mind-altering cartoons which will aid me in getting to my coffee sooner, and pour my first cup.

12. Gotta let the dog and cat back in now because both of them are afraid of the sprinklers.

13. Need to wipe Ava and dump her urine out, put coffee in microwave and reheat.

10. He kills any and all spiders or bugs so that I don't have to go near them.

Thursday Thirteen #12

13 explanations for my laziness:

1. I decided while laying in the tub that my legs could use a shave but didn't really feel like going through all the work so I shaved the leg that will be laying next to my husband in bed. The other one can wait until tomorrow.
2. My kids both have colds so if I lay around and rest perhaps I won't get sick since being sick requires rest- maybe I can work it in reverse.
3. My husband won't be home until late late tonight so why bother cleaning up the house. He won't see it if all the lights are off when he gets home.
4. There are way too many good shows to watch on TV that have been recording all week. I should really start watching them so the DVR doesn't get too full.
5. My brain has decided to vacate my body and has left me with a rental. Apparently the rental can't find it's way around.
6. If I get up my body may burn fat thus making me need to eat again thus making me need to cook again and that's just not good.
7. Oh, still have many more excuses to type and the phalanges are wearing out.
8. If I weren't lazy, who would be? I mean somebody's got to do it.
9. I'm helping the environment by not moving around therefore I am able to raise my air conditioner temperature and not use it as much.
10. My dog would really appreciate it if I spent time with her on the couch snuggling...she's had a rough day...laying on the floor.
11. If I got up, the cat would get up, and we don't want that.
12. I need a break because I'm having a hard time thinking of 13 things and I have all ready managed to post 12.
13. Being overworked doesn't feel half as good as being lazy.

Thursday Thirteen #6

Thirteen CONFESSIONS:

1. I don’t always brush the kids’ teeth before bed. I feel bad afterward, but not enough to get them back up and do it.
2. I sometimes park in the disabled persons space to drop off mail but I get upset with other people who park in diasabled spots at other times when they don’t have a decal.
3. If I’m not ready to wash the laundry but the basket is full, I sometimes remove my husband’s pants from the basket and hang them back up in his closet so he can wear them again. (Sorry Dave. I guess the secret is out.)
4. Ok so this is kinda gross. I actually didn’t realize I did this until the other day. My youngest is being potty trained. When I rinsed out the potty bowl I was using the kitchen dish towel to dry it off. Who knows what got dried off after that. Yuck.
5. On the weekend I sometimes say I’m paying bills online when I’m secretly reading blogs.
6. Occasionally I have paid a sitter to come over and watch my kids so that I can work… I just forget to mention that it’s on my blog and not my home business.
7. I sometimes throw away onesies because I am just too lazy to wash them out.
8. When I give the girls a bad hair cut I say I took them to the shop down the street.
9. Sometimes when the girls wake up in the morning their sheets might be a little wet. During their afternoon nap I realize I forgot to change the sheets and then leave them on since they have all ready dried.
10. On occasion I wonder if I am doing this whole parenting thing right. Then I write a post like this and …well… it speaks for itself.
11. I usually forget to say prayers at bedtime with one daughter but not the other. Makes me wonder if subconsciously I think one needs a little more help from God.
12. Sometimes we are given many bottles of wine either through my husband’s job or some other thing. Typically I hoard the ones I like and pour the ones I don’t for my neighbors.
13. If you have a confession let me hear it…

Thursday Thirteen #5

Thirteen Things that I fix around my house if I had more money:

1. I would landscape the front yard and make it look attractive to the rest of the neighborhood.
2. I would landscape the backyard so the girls could play on grass and we would have a place to sit and eat dinner when it is nice outside.
3. I would buy a new lawnmower so I could actually start it without help. Ours is too hard to pull the cord and make start.
4. I would buy a new toilet for the bathroom since ours is broken.
5. I would repaint all the places that have dings around the house.
6. I would paint our room since it has never been painted.
7. I would rent a stump grinder to remove the huge ugly stump in our front yard.
8. We could use a hot tub but that's really dreaming.
9. I would replace our windows with "low e " dual pane windows to cut the cost of our electricity bill.
10. I would build a house of a rabbit so the girls could have a bunny.
11. I would ask Dave what he would want fixed.
12. I would hire a maid to really clean the blinds and windows.
13. I would probably buy a new mattress because our albatross is awful.

Thursday Thirteen #4

Thirteen Things that I will have to stop eating in order to lose weight on my diet:
I gained a mere 65 pounds during each pregnancy with my daughters and have lost roughly 75 pounds so far. I would still like to lose another 15 pounds. From my lips to God's ears.... These are in no particular order:

1. Pizza- a.k.a. the carb killer.

2. Chips- all kinds- and I favor all the spicy hot brands... They know who they are...those oily salt drenched gifts from God.

3. Fast food. The usual suspects...mexican, burgers, mexican burgers, fries...oh not the fries. I love them very much especially with chili and cheese on top.

4. Any type of chocolate candy that I can get my hands on but claim I have in the house as an incentive on getting my youngest daughter to use the potty.

5. All processed boxed foods. Mac-n-cheese is good for the quick fix but ...even the organic still is made with cheese. bummer.

6. Hotlinks, hot dogs, or any other meat shaped like a sausage with or without the word 'hot' in front of it.

7. Mash potatoes. Mixing broccoli in them doesn't bring their calorie count down. I love me some potatoes.

8. Donuts. These just should not be sold at supermarkets. The temptation is just too overwhelming.

9. Dessert or any meal I can convince my husband to get in the car and go drive for past 8PM in exchange for...a big thank you of course.

10. Salsa- because it can't be eaten without chips. I don't include Tapatio in this. I can not live without Tapatio on everything.

11. Cheese... a limited amount is ok but I eat it on everything that I put hot sauce on so one's gotta go.

12. Guacamole, again it's a chip thing. By eliminating chips alone I could probably lose five pounds in a day. It's that or start buying stock...

13.Oh no not the alcohol :(

Wow with a diet like that it makes me wonder how I lost any weight at all. But in truth I do jog everyday for at least 30 minutes and most of my binge eating happens on the weekends when my husband is home. I keep to a pretty decent diet on the weekdays, egg whites, brown rice, brown pasta, chicken, fish, dried berries, and the occasional diet soda. The list above is mostly just the crap I snarf down on the weekend as a treat for eating well during the week.

Thursday Thirteen ~ 2nd Edition

Thirteen Things That Should Be Included In The Baby Handbook

1. When you're pregnant and excited to buy all those cool toys you think your baby will just have to have, don't by them. In a year your house will be cluttered with toys from other people who think your baby needed those toys too. Save your money and buy yourself some sanity. You can actually use that later.

2. When potty training your kids don't ever take the little potty filled with poop and dump it into the garbage disposal. You'll end up getting some rather interesting looks from your mother-in-law and have to explain that it is never a good idea to eat anything that falls into your sink.

3. When your kids learn to take take their diapers off and begin to smear crap all over their cribs- don't waste your time with the duct tape. Your kids will look like they are ready to be mailed to the North Pole and you'll receive offensive looks from your friends who don't have kids. Instead buy a footed pj one size too big and put it on the toddler backwards. They can't reach the zipper and you never have to worry about finding them naked in bed again.

4. If you want baby momentos such as the stump of umblical cord that falls off a few weeks after birth, tape it immediately into the baby book, don't put in on the nightstand unless you want to find your dog eating it. How's that for a memory!

5. When your kids can feed themselves, put them in their highchair in their diaper (clothes removed) so that their food can get everywhere and you can get them dressed afterwards without having to spray their clothes with stain remover. Saves time, money, and sanity.

6. Kids seem to eat anything that looks like a cupcake. If there's certain veggies your kids don't like, shred them, and bake them in muffins.

7. When traveling with your kids, a DVD player in car can make any trip better. I bought one that plays one movie on two screens. It has made life in the car wonderful.

8. This one works for my kids but may not be the solution for everyone. If you want to bathe with your babies but would rather not be sitting in their pee try putting them in the tub first, spray their feet with a little cold water, typically my kids then go pee, I wash it down the drain and fill up the tub with warm water. There's still a good chance they may pee again, but at least it won't be as much as when they peed the first time.

9. Be careful what you feed your kids or they could poop blue.

10. When you're pregnant and eating for two, that actually means one woman and baby, not two sumo wrestlers....unless you want to keep the extra weight for the winter. I gained 65 lbs. with each pregnancy. It was hard by the end to make it up stairs.

11. If you started out flat-chested, nursing will not make your boobs bigger forever, it's only temporary and sad when you're done that they are even smaller. I'd never trade in breastfeeding though. It was the best bonding experience ever.

12. Dad's are not 'babysitting' if the mom is out of the house. They are parents. They are parenting. Often times I hear dad's say this and I ask them, "oh I pay my sitter $7.oo an hour- what's your rate?"

13. If you can't get your kids to eat vegetables such as carrots, put them through the juicer and make popsicles. Lots of things taste good frozen...yogurt, bananas... If you've made it to the bottom of this post, thanks for reading and happy TT.
